Camp CTAP Leadership Strand

  • Professional Development

This train-the-trainer model is designed to build site or district capacity for technology staff development. Participants will be trained on how to deliver beginning and intermediate technology based staff development and will receive all training materials, resources and curriculum. Strand components will include applicable adult learning theory, presentation skills, and the backwards design model. Participants will acquire skills in creating and delivering high quality professional development that meets the needs of their district and site teachers.

The goal of the Leadership Strand is to build site or district leadership capacity for providing technology integration professional development opportunities. Participants will be trained on how to deliver beginning and intermediate technology-based staff development. Content includes applicable adult learning theory, effective presentation skills, backwards design, training materials, and supporting resources. Participants will acquire skills in creating and delivering high quality professional development to meet the needs of their district and site teachers. Follow-up training will provide support for participants as they begin to develop and deliver technology training for their district or site.

Outcomes

  1. To create a training exemplar to share with other trainers, one that exhibits higher order thinking skills (HOTS), 21st century skills, and critical lesson components for effective technology integration.
  2. Learn the five stages of effective presentations.
  3. Improve listening skills and how to meet the needs of different audiences.
  4. Learn strategies to increase understanding through paraphrasing.
  5. Apply learning in creating a presentation project.

Time frame

This train-the-trainer program consists of 5 days of professional development with 2 follow-up days, one in the fall and one in the spring. Training is from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM daily.

Audience

Technology leaders with intermediate or advanced technology skills interested in becoming trainers for their site or district; site and district office recommendation will be required prior to registration confirmation.

Cost

  • $1,200 per participant.
