Workshop Overview
- This workshop integrates handheld technology tools with a short classroom observation protocol and database. Using the CTAP Region 10 DataTrek© database, participants will have hands-on experience reviewing classroom observation protocols, practice collecting classroom observation data on a handheld computer, and analyze the data collected to generate reports.
Workshop Outcomes
- Understand the philosophy and value of the classroom walk-through observation process
- Develop an understanding of the meaning of the data collection fields in the classroom observation database
- Observe and collect data in five to seven classrooms
- Learn to synchronize the handheld computer observation records with a computer to generate reports
- Calibrate the observed classroom objectives to the California Content Standards
- Create summary reports and related charts of the classroom observations
- Understand the steps necessary to successfully implement the DataTrek observation process
Time frame
The DataTrek workshop is six hours of professional development, with additional follow-up days to support implementation.
