EETT Round 3 Technology Integration Coaching Support Materials

The Technology Integration Coaching Program is a ten-day curriculum providing instruction to site-based integration coaches in leadership skills to allow them to support teachers at their site in utilizing technology effectively in support of the standards-based curriculum. Topics include building communication skills, mentoring and modeling processes, change process, reflective coaching, and effective integration of technology.

10-Day Agenda with Support Materials

Day 1

The first day of the coaching program is held in the district with new coaches.

Outcomes:

  • Participants will develop an understanding of their district EETT-C grant program.
  • Participants will be prepared to share the focus, outcomes, and activities of their EETT-C grant program with teachers at their site.
  • Participants will understand their role and the roles of other stakeholders in their grant program.

Day 2-3 – September 26-27, 2005

Outcomes:

  • Coaches will develop a shared vision of their grant with other coaches
  • Coaches will develop an understanding of their own learning style.
  • Coaches will practice building rapport using verbal and non-verbal skills.
  • Coaches will practice paraphrasing skills, asking probing questions for clarity, specificity, and elaboration.
  • Coaches will practice wait time strategies as a listener and as a speaker.

Day 4-5 – October 6-7, 2005

Outcomes:

  • Coaches will use invitational stems while facilitating conversations about best practices.
  • Coaches will expand their understanding of various learning styles, and develop strategies for better communication with each style.
  • Coaches will learn basic handheld skills
  • Coaches will identify potential challenges and possible solutions while implementing the EETT-C Coaching Program at their site.
  • Coaches will develop an action plan and strategies to support implementation of the EETT-C Program at their site.

Day 6 – November 10, 2005

Outcomes:

  • Coaches will be prepared to conduct classroom observations, including pre- and post-observation conferences
  • Coaches will understand the application of the classroom observation instrument.

Day 7 – December 8, 2005

Outcomes:

  • Coaches will understand the concerns-based adoption model, and be able to apply it to diagnose target teacher concerns and needs.
  • Coaches will be prepared to assist the program manager and/or district evaluator in the collection and reporting of data needed to complete the semi-annual report.
  • Districts will identify communication and collaboration activities that support the grant to be implemented over the remainder of the school year.

Day 8 – January 31, 2006

Outcomes:

  • Coaches will use updated ILPs to determine participant teacher professional development needs.
  • Coaches will be prepared to ask probing questions to help participant teachers analyze their own practices and paraphrase to help participant teachers shift their focus.
