Read Around the Planet 2007 Videoconference Event

Students in K-12 classrooms are invited to participated in an interactive two-way videoconference that supports communication and literacy. Read Around the Planet is a celebration of the National Education Association’s (NEA) Read Across America. Betweeen March 1 and March 9, classrooms will use interactive videoconferencing to connect with other classrooms and read to each other for approximately one hour. While most collaborations will be in English, there are opportunities to connect in other languages on March 9.

The activity is sponsored by TWICE (Two Way Interactive Connections in Education) and Polycom®, in cooperation with the NEA. Participating classrooms must have access to two-way interactive video equipment. Connectivity fees are the only cost to this project and individual schools are responsible for any fees associated with connectivity.

Complete details and registration information about this special project can be found at http://www.twice.cc/read/ and on the downloadable PDF.

If you participate, the Orange County Department of Education will perform the required equipment verification for schools in California November 1-22.
