Subject: New at TICAL
Hello All,
Thank you to all those who personally welcomed me to the project. I am glad to be here to assist administrators and, ultimately, to increase student achievement. We have been pushing out many new and exciting resources for administrators—and some that just help you laugh (hopefully, you have read Michael’s latest blog http://www.portical.org/blog/?p=19 ).
And for the more serious bunch….
Radio TICAL http://www.portical.org/podcasts/ has another episode in the jukebox. In “Pioneers on the Oregon Trail http://www.portical.org/podcasts/?p=61 ” you can listen to Stephen Kay interview Jim Scoolis, Cadre member and Principal at Monarch Grove Elementary School in Los Osos, California. Jim reflects on his experience in being the lead of a “technology model” school eleven years ago. If you have iTunes® installed on your computer, click here to automatically subscribe to Radio TICAL
In the presentation “Ethical Use of Technology and Internet Safety For Your Technology Plan http://portical.org/barnett_intro.html#ab307 ” Harvey Barnett shares information and resources about cyber safety and ethical use. These are important topics to include in your technology planning process. In fact, they are now required in California according to Assembly Bill 307 and Education Code section 51871.5 http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/displaycode?section=edc&group=51001-52000&file=51870-51874 .
Don’t forget to look at the new Tools & Templates too! Chris York has prepared many more Step Sheet tutorials http://www.portical.org/tools/msoffice2000_stepsheets.html so you and your staff can master any application in the Microsoft® Office Suite. He will also save you time when you are creating a bell schedule. He developed a Bell Schedule template http://www.portical.org/tools/york_templates/minutes that automatically calculates instructional minutes.
Don’t forget Internationally-renowned expert in creativity Sir Ken Robinson http://www.principalvoices.com/voices/ken-robinson-bio.html has agreed to give the keynote address at both of our upcoming TICAL professional development events. He is a brilliant and very entertaining speaker. Save the dates and plan to join us!
The 4th Annual TICAL Arkansas conference http://www.portical.org/ar_conference.html , February 25-27, 2008, Peabody Hotel in Little Rock - in collaboration with AAEA and ADE.
