PBS Teachers Announces Election Resources For Grades 7-12
In a notice from PBS Teachers, Content Manager Jenny Bradbury writes:
“Access, Analyze, Act: A Blueprint for 21st Century Civic Engagement” is the print component of the elections-related curriculum that PBS Teachers produced in a partnership with Temple University’s Media Education Lab with funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The curriculum includes a rich collection of standards-based lesson plans for students in grades 7-12. These lessons are designed to promote students media and information literacy skills and civic engagement.
The guide is available online at http://www.pbsteachers.org/vote2008. Additional online curriculum components include video modules to help teachers utilize the Election Collaboration widgets and in interactive quiz for students to test their political personalities.
The website “presents terrific opportunities to help students engage in the 2008 election in purposeful and meaningful ways and practice critical 21st centrury skills that will serve them well beyond the election.”
