EdTechProfile by the Numbers. September 2008
A happy new school year to everyone! We hope that everyone had a good rest over the summer, and the beginning of the school year has been a success!
In July 2008, 69% of the teachers in Region 10 that includes Riverside, Inyo, Mono, and San Bernardino counties had active accounts in the EdTechProfile system. An active account is one that it has been updated within the last school year. In numbers, that translates to 27,184 teachers in the region with active accounts! This is a good thing, as right now the state is running at only 46% completion for teachers, which puts Region 10 way ahead of the state average!
With the new year, many districts will be asking teachers to update their accounts. The prime reason for updating at this time of the year is that many districts are updating their District Technology Plan. In order to provide the most current data to include in their technology plans, districts need to provide not only skill levels but also classroom technology integration levels for their classroom teachers.
If a teacher has moved to a new site this school year, they can log into their EdTechProfile account and move their current account to the new site. No need to create a new account! Once logged in, click on the My Account tab and change location to the current site.
Districts also need to include data relating to the technology skill levels of their site administrators. The sections of the EdTechProfile Technology Assessment Profile differ between the classroom teacher and the administrator version. The administrator version is shorter as they are not asked to complete the sections relating to Standard 9 and Standard 16 that deal mainly with technology integration in the classroom. This information is very important to classroom teachers, so the survey includes those questions with the teacher version.
