PBS Teachers Live! Webinar Series Announced
PBS Teachers is introducing a free monthly webinar series for preK-12 educators featuring leading education experts, authors, or PBS producers who will discuss timely and relevant curriculum-related topics, and demonstrate ways to integrate digital media in the classroom.
The inaugural PBS Teachers Live! webinar is on "Changing Views of History, Changing Views of Race" with speaker Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr., on Jan. 28. Gates will discuss how Americans' understanding of and attitudes toward Lincoln, African American history, and culture continue to evolve, and ways to approach this topic with students. Gates is the Alphonase Fletcher University Professor and Director of the W. E. B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research at Harvard University. PBS Teachers is working with Elluminate and Classroom 2.0 to host the webinars. Dr. Gates' latest documentary, "Looking for Lincoln", premieres on PBS in February.
