CETPA is helping gather individuals for the education strand for the Netbook Summit May 24-25 in San Francisco. Current speakers in the education strand include:
- Jim Klein, Saugus Union School District, “Netbooks and Open Source: Rethinking Laptops and Learning”
- Mary Lasica and Linda Uhrenholt, AT&T, “3G Netbooks: Planning for Schools”
- Jan Half, Mouse Squad, ”Student Tech Support for Mobile Devices”
- Doug Atkinson, entourage Systems, “Digital, Mobile: The Learning Environment of the Future”
The conference organizers are offering a $400 discount to CETPA members for the full conference or a $300 discount on one-day registration.
Netbook Summit focuses on netbooks, streamlined mobile devices designed for the Internet and allowing users to stay connected on the go. Netbooks are optimized for low weight and low cost rather than computing power. They are typically less expensive and less powerful than traditional notebooks or desktops. The Netbook Summit will provide attendees with practical information on understanding the role of netbooks, using netbooks effectively, developing software for netbooks, netbooks in education, making netbooks perform better, and expanding netbooks.
