Curriculum Support and Instructional Practices

RIMS CTAP provides a variety of professional development opportunities that focus on research-based instructional practices utilizing technology.

Adopted Materials Training

In collaboration with the Riverside County Office of Education, RIMS CTAP has developed online resources in support of adopted curriculum and AB 466 trainings. Resources include online support for teachers, students, and parents in addition to supplemental curriculum Internet websites. The support website offers links to several adopted publishers as well as supportive content for teachers, staff, and parents. Training is designed to orient teachers toward the online resources that support their adopted curriculum, consistent with AB 466 training.

Camp CTAP

An institute focusing on honing technology skills for beginners, creating technology-infused standards-based lessons for those with intermediate skills, or learning to be a site or district trainer and leader to provide technology integration professional development.

Digital Classrooms: Engaging Learning Environments

The RIMS CTAP Digital Classrooms Program supports the effective use of resources such as a digital projector to improve student engagement and support the adopted curriculum. During the workshop, participants create interactive products that can be used immediately in the classroom to support student engagement and individual learning styles.

Marzano Strategies Integrated with Technology

Look at the nine research-based learning strategies identified by Robert Marzano in Classroom Instruction that Works: Research-based Strategies for Increasing Student Achievement. These strategies have been identified as being the most effective ways to increase student achievement. For each strategy we will show how technology can be used to help students improve their learning.

Single-Day Workshops and Modules

RIMS CTAP provides a variety of professional development activities that focus on using technology tools to enhance teaching and promote learning in the classroom. We work with the leadership at school sites and district offices to co-design customized workshop opportunities that best match the needs of the site staff. These workshops are typically held at school sites within the district.

Technology Integration Coaching

The RIMS CTAP Technology Integration Coaching Program is a multi-day program that supports the use of research-based best practices in integrating technology into the standards-based curriculum, using a collaborative coaching model. The Coaching Program provides ongoing training for Technology Integration Coaches in leadership skills including best practices of technology integration, coaching and mentoring skills, classroom observation and modeling techniques, change process, and data-driven decision-making. RIMS CTAP supports coaches throughout the year with online discussion forums and face-to-face meetings to further hone skills and provide immediate feedback on observation data.
