Single-Day Workshops and Modules

RIMS CTAP provides a variety of professional development activities that focus on using technology tools to enhance teaching and promote learning in the classroom. We work with the leadership at school sites and district offices to co-design customized workshop opportunities that best match the needs of the site staff. These workshops are typically held at school sites within the district.

Inspiration®

Participants will learn the basics of the software program Inspiration® and how to apply this provided technology into their daily instruction and adopted materials.

Web Resources to Support Adopted Materials in ELA and Math

Participants will participate in hands-on use of online resources to support adopted materials in the ELA and Math curricula.

Marzano Strategies Integrated with Technology

Participants will explore ways in which technology can support the research-based Marzano strategies in the classroom. In this workshop participants will use Inspiration® to foster higher order thinking skills and content literacy. Participants will discuss strategies for implementing Inspiration® in the differentiated classroom. All participants will receive a CD of content literacy tools and a free trial version of Inspiration.

WebQuest Investigations

According to Bernie Dodge, “inventor” of the WebQuest, “a WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented activity in which some or all of the information that learners interact with comes from resources on the Internet…” Participants will learn basic web publishing skills as they create a WebQuest that supports their adopted curriculum. Teachers will design a research question that addresses higher order thinking skills, provide a variety of web-based resources aimed at differentiating content for students with differing learning needs.

HOTS — Higher Order Thinking Skills

This workshop presents Higher Order Thinking Skills, including Bloom’s Taxonomy. Interactive discussions will review PowerPoint® lesson presentations to identify ways in which higher cognitive domains can be integrated. During this training, participants will develop and/or edit existing PowerPoint® lessons to integrate HOTS, as well as incorporate interactive segments for re-teaching and follow-up reviews for essential learning standards.
