WTLN Logoelcome to the 2012-2013 Technology Leadership Network!

The CTAP Technology Leadership Network (TLN) provides a networking forum for technology and curriculum leaders and educators in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. We address timely and relevant issues that support a stronger understanding of curriculum, networking, and expertise in technology integration.

TLN will meet three times throughout the 2012-2013 school year. Agendas reflect current issues and emerging needs.

“Our district has set aside funding and decided to purchase the equivalent of one device for every four students before June 2013.  What should I buy?”

Do questions like this keep you up at night?

We are inviting districts to send representatives from Curriculum and Instruction, Assessment and Accountability, Informational Technology, Business Services, and any other interested parties to discuss the purchase of devices for daily use with students as they engage in CCSS lessons and participate in Smarter Balanced assessments.

CCSS explicitly identifies the use of technology in the ELA Anchor Standards and in the Standards for Mathematical Practice.  Smarter Balanced has given us minimum specifications and purchasing recommendations for CAT assessments.  But we do not have a state mandate to make certain devices available for student use.  Hence, deciding which device to put in students’ hands is a district decision.

During this Forum, we will discuss educational technology needs both relative to CCSS and to Smarter Balanced.  We will discuss best practices and lessons learned from the most recent SBAC pilot.  And, if there is interest, we may discuss BYOD and 1-1 programs.  Finally, we will help districts process the information they need to make good decisions regarding educational technology purchases.

Outcomes include the development of a team-created action plan and spending plan relative to technology for student use for the budget that ends June 2013 and/or the 2013-14 budget.

We look forward to seeing you there!
